No Xbox Or Nintendo Exclusive Made It To Top 20 Best Sellers In 2024

Multiplatform Seems To Be The Future Heading Forward!

Story Highlight
  • There was no Xbox or Nintendo game in the top 20 best sellers for the US in 2024.
  • The list is dominated by multiplatform games like EA FC, NFL, Elden Ring, and more.
  • This clearly suggests that multiplatform is the way to go for future titles.

2024 was a decent year for gaming. We had titles ranging from Black Myth: Wukong to Astro Bot to Hellivers 2 and more. However, new data suggests that it wasn’t too good for Xbox and Nintendo exclusives, which couldn’t make it into the top 20 best sellers for 2024 in the US.

Why it matters: Despite heavyweight launches like Hellblade 2, Xbox had a quiet year with its exclusives. Surprisingly, Nintendo has a similar story despite the Switch crossing PS2’s sales record.

No Xbox or Nintendo exclusive made it to the top 20 best sellers for 2024

According to sales data from Circana, Call of Duty and Minecraft were the only Microsoft titles that made it to the top 20 best-selling games of the year. In addition, Sony had Helldivers 2, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

As expected, the chart is dominated by EA games like College Football 25, Madden NFL 25, and FC 25. Bandai Namco also marked a strong year with Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, Tekken 8, and Elden Ring.

Most of the best-selling games were multiplatform

However, one clear pattern from this data is that multiplatform is the way to go. Even out of Sony’s best-sellers, Helldivers 2 is already available on PC, while Rebirth and Spider-Man 2 are coming in 2025.

All of the best-selling charts are dominated by multiplatform games, which seem to be the future. Microsoft has already shown clear intent to give up on exclusive games.

Sony also recently launched the Horizon Lego game on Xbox. However, PlayStation owners seem to be sticking mostly to PC for now. This marks a clear shift in the industry, with games demanding huge budgets, and we will undoubtedly see more multiplatform games
