Warner Bros Lost A Whopping $300M From 2 Games This Year

Suicide Squad And MultiVersus Underperformed!

Story Highlight
  • Warner Bros. Games previously reported that it lost $200M due to Suicide Squad.
  • Now, the company has revealed that MultiVersus underperformed and lost another $100M this year.
  • This means that the gaming giant lost a massive $300M in 2024 from two games.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is arguably one of the worst releases of 2024. Not only did the game disappoint its fans, but it became a major loss for Warner Bros. The company blamed the game for the $200 million loss it faced this year.

In the previous earnings report, gaming revealed a 41% revenue drop year-over-year, which was, of course, due to Suicide Squad. However, in its recent financial call, Warner Bros’ CEO, David Zaslav, revealed that MultiVersus underperformed and contributed to the major loss this year.

Combining the losses from both of these games, Warner Bross lost $300 million in 2024.

Why it matters: No matter what the case is, publishers and developers should always listen to the gamers as they are the ones who will buy and play the games. Not listening to them will only create further failures.

WB Games previously admitted that Suicide Squad underperformed as it cost the company $200 million, which is massive. Furthermore, the company has now revealed the loss from MultiVersus, which has taken the overall sum to $300 million.

One of the losses was reported back in August, and the second one was reported just recently, which shows that the gaming giant faced a massive loss this year. It is not normal for a game company to lose this amount, but this year has been pretty poor, as there are more such instances.

The best examples are Skulls and Bones and Concord. The former severely underperformed after an extremely long development cycle, and the latter was shut down soon after its launch. Concord has been reported to cost PlayStation over $400 million, causing the closure of its developer.

Still, we hope WB Games starts listening to its fandom and making games according to their preferences. What do you think of the gaming giant taking massive losses in 2024?
