Microsoft Document Leads To Speculation About Elder Scrolls 6 For PS5

Could Elder Scrolls Return To PlayStation Again?

Bethesda Game Studios is working on the next big first-party title for Xbox. After years of anticipation, Starfield is finally confirmed to release on September 6, with a new Starfield Direct coming in June.

The upcoming game is a console exclusive to Xbox, leading to a discussion about the future of The Elder Scrolls. Some fans believe that it is almost guaranteed that the next big Bethesda RPG will again be an Xbox console exclusive, but Microsoft has stated that exclusives will be decided on a case-by-case basis.

Despite exclusivity concerns, a Microsoft document has sparked hopes for The Elder Scrolls 6 coming to PlayStation 5

In December, Microsoft claimed that three future Zenimax games were set to be Xbox console exclusives. At the time, Starfield and Redfall had already been confirmed to skip PlayStation 5, and fans were speculating that the third game on the list was The Elder Scrolls 6.

However, the new document states that two future games are now Xbox console exclusives. This could mean that one of the previously counted games was Tango Gameworks’ Hi-Fi Rush.

Hi-Fi Rush was shadow-dropped the same day it was announced and quickly became a popular release. However, the public was not aware of the game until January. This has sparked rumors that Microsoft might not release future Zenimax games as Xbox console exclusives.

If this is to be believed, there is a slight chance that The Elder Scrolls 6 could come to PlayStation 5.

The Elder Scrolls franchise is among the biggest RPG games in the industry, and Microsoft has much to gain from releasing it across all platforms. The gaming giant has also insisted that it is committed to bringing games to more people worldwide.

However, Microsoft could also strengthen the Xbox brand through exclusivity for a massive game like The Elder Scrolls 6. Bethesda Game Studios’ next game is also a few years away, at the very least.

As such, Microsoft may have only mentioned Zenimax games coming shortly, which would be relevant to the Activision Blizzard deal. The gaming giant wants the acquisition to go through by June 2023 and may have presented documents with this in mind.

It is difficult to make accurate predictions for now, but this has not stopped fans from grasping the slightest bit of hope. The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced in 2018, but a release date is nowhere to be found.
