Playground Games Focusing On 2025 Launch Target!

Story Highlight
  • Playground Games is expanding with a third studio to focus on the development of the Fable reboot, which it aims to release in 2025.
  • The studio is actively hiring for key roles and collaborating with Eidos Montreal to ramp up development.
  • Despite focusing on Fable, the studio continues to support Forza Horizon 5.

Playground Games, the studio behind the Forza Horizon series and the upcoming Fable, is still growing rapidly. According to the studio’s LinkedIn page, it is opening a third studio to help with Fable’s development, a major step as it works towards its 2025 release goal.

Why it matters: Adding a third studio and hiring more employees show that Playground Games is dedicated to meeting the launch target of the Fable reboot.

The new Fable game, set to come out in 2025, is also getting help from Eidos Montreal, the team behind Deus Ex. A trailer shown at the Xbox Showcase gave fans a preview of the game’s action and characters.

To speed up development, Playground Games hired 18 new team members in key roles, such as character artists, environment artists, and senior designers, earlier this year.

Along with the new employees, Playground Games hired the Baldur’s Gate 3 producer to join Fable’s development team.

Adding a third studio shows that Playground Games is entering the final stages of development. With the recent new hires, the team is improving characters, visuals, and environments.

Their goal is to capture the fun and immersive feel of the original entries while using new technology to create a fresh experience for both new and returning players.

Fable
Fable Reboot is expected to be another quality title from Playground Games.

Even though Playground Games is focused on the new Fable, it is still actively supporting Forza Horizon 5 to keep it exciting for its large player base.

Despite the challenges in the gaming industry, such as Arkane Austin’s closure and layoffs at Activision Blizzard, Playground Games’ expansion is a bright spot. The studio’s growth and commitment to ambitious projects like the Fable reboot show its dedication.

Playground Games is known for delivering high-quality titles, so expectations are high for the upcoming Fable Reboot. The studio’s work on Forza Horizon 5 was exceptional, and the game recently reached 40 million players.

Although the exact release date for the Fable reboot isn’t set, a 2025 launch seems likely given the current development speed and the larger team.
