By Far The Best-Selling Game of March!

Story Highlight
  • Dragon’s Dogma 2 was March’s best-selling game in the US.
  • It has already outsold the first game and Dark Arisen combined.
  • Capcom could provide a sales update for the RPG soon.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 emerged as a major success for Capcom last month. Successfully evolving this RPG series, the second game marked a major transition for the studio.

It sold 2.5 million units within the first two weeks and topped the Japanese PlayStation charts at launch. New data from the US markets suggests that the RPG also outsold its predecessor in this market within the first month.

Why it matters: The original Dragon’s Dogma launched over 12 years ago. The game has been on multiple platforms and has gone through various discounts since then. Therefore, the sequel’s success is no small feat.

According to data from Circana, the RPG became this market’s best-selling title in March with less than ten days on the market.

It has also outsold its predecessor already. What’s more interesting is the fact that Dragon’s Dogma 2 is now tracking ahead of both the original game and its remaster combined.

Interestingly, it could not claim the best-selling spot among PlayStation games. Helldivers 2 proved too dominant on the platform, but Capcom’s latest release finished in first place on Xbox Series S|X consoles.

Overall, March proved to be an exceptionally strong month for this publisher.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Is Not Just An Ordinary Sequel

Since its launch, Dragon’s Dogma 2 has continuously received new updates to balance various parts of the RPG experience. These updates have improved the overall stability and fixed problems like excessive dragonsplaque infections.

Other changes include fixes to various bugs and changes to the Pawn system to make the experience better than before.

Capcom is set to reveal its quarterly earnings report soon. We expect updated sales figures for Dragon’s Dogma 2 once the report arrives, pushing the franchise to further heights among the RPGs of 2024.
