Black Ops 6 To Launch On All Game Pass Tiers Amid Reports of New Tier

Microsoft Seems To Have No Plans For New Game Pass Tier For Now!

Story Highlight
  • Black Ops 6 was officially announced for Game Pass yesterday.
  • It has also been confirmed that the game will be available for all tiers, including the cheapest version of the subscription.
  • This is reassuring after recent reports suggested that the franchise could be limited to certain tiers of Game Pass.

Activision’s catalog on Game Pass is officially expanding. Following the release of Diablo 4, the gaming giant has just announced Black Ops 6 for the subscription, marking yet another high-profile AAA title launching on this subscription from day one.

However, recent reports have suggested that additional Game Pass tiers are in the works. Amid the confusion, it was also said that Black Ops 6 could be restricted to the more expensive tiers of this service.

Fortunately, this does not seem to be the case.

Why it matters: Microsoft’s initial promise to Game Pass subscribers assured them that the catalog would be the same between the base and Ultimate tiers.

Call of Duty Black Ops 6
Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Is The First Entry In The Series To Launch On A Subscription

Recently, Sarah Bond suggested that all first-party games would be available on Game Pass day one, and Activision games would be no exception.

Following these statements, recent reports suggested a new Game Pass tier would be introduced because of Call of Duty. However, as confirmed by Geoff Keighley, Black Ops 6 is coming to all tiers of this service.

This means that the $9.99/month version for PC will offer Black Ops 6, much like the $16.99 Ultimate tier will. One exception is Game Pass Core, but this tier is more of a rebranded Xbox Live Gold.

Microsoft could still announce a price increase hike this year, but the gaming giant seems to have no such plans for the time being. If Xbox had to choose between new tiers of a price hike, it is likely to choose the latter.

Diablo 4

Following the announcement, some fans also expect Microsoft to shadow-drop all the older Call of Duty games on this service. If this ends up being the case, Game Pass could receive a huge growth in monthly subscribers due to the nostalgic value of those titles.

While Microsoft’s confirmation does not completely rule out new tiers or price hikes, fans can rest easy now.

Every Game Pass member can anticipate the ability to play Black Ops 6, making it the cheapest entry point for a Call of Duty release to date. We also expect the game to break multiple records because of its subscription launch.
