Tune In June 9 For Gameplay At COD Direct!

Story Highlight
  • Activision has officially announced Call of Duty Black Ops 6.
  • The game is set in the Gulf War, marking another collaboration between Raven Software and Treyarch.
  • The upcoming Call of Duty Direct will reveal a more detailed look at this Black Ops entry.

It was previously rumored and teased many times that Activision is working on Black Ops 6, the next Call of Duty. Nothing was confirmed, but it was almost certain that the next entry would belong to this series.

A report also revealed that this game would be coming to Game Pass on day one. Activision has confirmed that the next game in the franchise is indeed Black Ops 6, so fans can rest assured now.

Why it matters: The Black Ops series is considered one of the best in Call of Duty history, so fans are excited to see it returning after 2020’s Black Ops Cold War.

As of now, not much has been officially revealed, as the developer just revealed the name. The tweet doesn’t show anything except Call of Duty Black Ops 6. However, the developer does write an interesting caption.

“A dark new chapter of the Black Ops franchise begins.”

Teasers from Twitter also appear to confirm that this project is a collaboration between Raven Software and Treyarch. Both studios worked together on Black Ops Cold War, which is considered one of Call of Duty’s better releases in recent years.

The game appears to be set in the Gulf War, with various iconic Black Ops 1 maps said to be returning.

Activision is taking a different approach with this entry since we might see less innovation and more nostalgia-focused elements. This may not be a bad idea, as it worked well for Modern Warfare 3.

More information regarding Call of Duty Black Ops 6 will be released during the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9th since this event will be followed by the Call of Duty Direct.

It is also likely that this entry will launch on Game Pass day one. However, a reliable insider has revealed that there will be new tiers for Call of Duty following a price hike
