- Many Xbox users are upset after learning that Gears of War: Reloaded is launching on PS5.
- Gears of War is a famed Xbox franchise that has long been associated with the platform over the years.
- Fans assert that the company has no identity anymore, with some even claiming the brand is dead.
Xbox has been chasing the new multiplatform strategy for a while because of changing console market conditions. However, the company has now also announced that the upcoming Gears of War: Reloaded will launch on PS5.
While expected, the reveal still came as a shock to many loyal Xbox fans who did not expect a massive franchise connected with the brand for decades to suddenly go multiplatform. Therefore, many console users have taken to social media to express their disappointment.
Why it matters: Gears of War: Reloaded launching on PlayStation 5 means that yet another notable Xbox brand will not be associated with it because of the strict implementation of the multiplatform strategy.
The social media posts are filled with slogans like ‘Xbox is dead’ as they lament the loss of another major exclusive. Users are also asking why the brand is not working on bringing PlayStation titles or third-party games like Phantom Blade Zero to its console instead.
These gamers have decided not to buy the next Xbox console in retaliation because they don’t see a point when all first-party games will be available on other platforms anyway.
Fans think that after Forza Horizon 5 and Gears of War, Halo remains the only pillar exclusive to the Xbox platform. However, it will likely be the next massive franchise headed to PlayStation 5, as per rumors.
Gears of War: Reloaded will launch on August 26, 2025, for Xbox, PC, PS5, and Game Pass day one. Additionally, gamers who own the Gears of War Ultimate Edition will get a free copy of the new remaster.
