Venom: Lethal Protector Coming In 2025!

Story Highlights
  • The next game from Insomniac was expected to be Marvel’s Wolverine.
  • According to new leaks, a Venom spin-off is coming from the studio in 2025.
  • The game will lead up to Spider-Man 3’s story, and it will offer 8-10 hours of content for $49.99.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 became famous for many defining characteristics. With over 2.5 million sales on day one, Insomniac proved its latest superhero adventure was no slouch.

The studio’s portrayal of Venom was remarkable and became one of the aforementioned characteristics. According to leaks, fans are in for more time with this villain since Insomniac Games is working on a standalone spin-off for the character.

Why it matters: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 spurred demand for a Venom spin-off. The studio was also quick to respond, claiming that it would not disappoint fans if there was enough demand.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2

A Reddit post details the complete list of leaks from Insomniac. The studio was victim to a ransomware attack, confirming projects like Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 and a new X-Men game.

Among the leaks, Insomniac’s roadmap confirms the standalone Venom game. Titled Venom: Lethal Protector, this will be the developer’s next project, due for release in 2025.

The game picks up after Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 with a completely new storyline and sets up Marvel’s Spider-Man 3. According to leaked slides, it includes more than just Venom, allowing players to switch between this villain and the Spider-Heroes.

The studio seems to have taken inspiration from Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales for this standalone entry. Therefore, it will last around 8-10 hours, offering 12 missions and 3 event bosses.

Adding optional content, some quests, a few challenges, and more, Venom: Lethal Protector will offer enough content for its $49.99 asking price.

It takes around 15-17 hours to complete Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Compared to its $70 price, the Venom spin-off appears to justify its cost. A leaked roadmap from the same ransomware attack confirms Insomniac is targeting a Q2 2025 launch, making it the studio’s very next project.

While everyone speculated that Marvel’s Wolverine would arrive by 2025, Insomniac seems to have different plans. This title will be released in 2026 after the spin-off based on Venom.

By 2025, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will go on sale and likely reach a much bigger audience, setting the stage for Venom: Lethal Protector. This will be a nice change of pace for Insomniac and audiences since they will abandon the traditional role of a superhero for a while.
