They Are Calling It A Global Entity That Will Be Used Across All Their Games!

Story Highlight

  • Ubisoft has created a new tech called Motherboard to use gen AI in game development.
  • They are calling it a global entity that will be used across all their studios and games.
  • The company is already reportedly using gen AI in most development stages.

The use of Generative AI in game development is always a heated debate. Fans are very much against its use, claiming it kills creativity; however, that doesn’t change the fact that it’s becoming more mainstream, with most studios now using it.

Ubisoft is apparently also going all-in with gen AI based on its new tech called Motherbrain. The tech will be used across most major games in development and aims to aid in accelerating gameplay innovation at the studio.

Why it matters: The company is reportedly already utilizing generative AI in almost all stages of development. This tech will help them further with it, but fans will likely wonder if it’s the right move or not.

Sources at Ubisoft have told Insider Gaming that the company is now utilizing gen AI in all of its development cycles. They have specifically made a tech for that called Motherbrain that will integrate gen AI across all Ubisoft games.

The company now views the tech just as important as its creative houses and core services. They emailed employees, declaring Motherbrain a global entity within the studio, to be used in every game moving forward.

This will undoubtedly raise a lot of eyebrows since Ubisoft already doesn’t have the best reputation these days. Additionally, with its layoff spree still continuing, most will also debate whether investing all-in on AI seems ethical.
