Story Highlight
  • The Witcher 4 was announced and shown to the world at The Game Awards in 2024.
  • CDPR has confirmed that the RPG won’t return to this event in 2025.
  • It has also been nominated in the ‘Most Anticipated Game’ category at the event.

The Witcher 4 was first announced nearly one year ago at The Game Awards 2024. Since then, much has been revealed about the game, including its ambitious nature and CDPR’s intentions to improve upon core elements like the combat.

With The Game Awards 2025 around the corner and much excitement for the event, many anticipated another showing from CDPR’s upcoming RPG. Unfortunately, The Witcher 4 will not be returning to the show this year.

Why it matters: CDPR entered full production of the game over a year ago, and fans are now looking forward to real-time gameplay.

According to Michal Nowakowski, the joint CEO of CDPR, the team will not bring new Witcher 4 content to show off at The Game Awards.

However, the studio is still excited to see all the amazing games and awards at this year’s event. Michal Nowakowski has also thanked fans for voting for The Witcher 4 as The Game Awards’ “Most Anticipated Game.”

While this may disappoint fans who were hoping to learn more about The Witcher 4, the team will certainly have more to share at some point next year. Perhaps the game will even show up with uncut gameplay this time.

For context, CDPR already showed The Witcher 4 for the second time at Unreal Fest 2025 with a tech demo in June. Therefore, it makes sense that the team is in no rush to share more footage at this time.
