Last of Us 3 Might Be Few Years Away!

Story Highlights
  • Jeffery Pierce hints that work on The Last of Us Part 3 may not have progressed much since he has yet to receive a script.
  • The voice actor believes the script will be perfect, like past work from Naughty Dog.
  • Naughty Dog is yet to officially confirm The Last of Us Part 3.

The Last of Us series is unarguably one of the biggest PlayStation titles to date. From the pinnacle of storytelling to characters that felt lifelike, it’s been a fan-favorite since the first game was released on PlayStation 3 in 2013.

While the third part of the franchise is yet to receive an official confirmation, reliable leakers have reported that The Last of Us Part 3 is in development. However, Jeffrey Pierce, Tommy Miller’s voice actor, has seemingly denied such rumors.

In an interview with Dexerto, Pierce claimed that he has yet to receive a script for The Last of Us Part 3.

Why it matters: Naughty Dog is currently going all-in with Last of Us. Therefore, many had believed that a third game was already in development.

The Last of Us 2

Despite not receiving a script yet, Pierce is confident that Part 3 will come out eventually. He stated:

“I’m going to trust when Neil hands me a script that it’s going to be perfect.”

The voice actor joked that when he does get called for The Last of Us Part 3, he’ll say he has no idea what they’re talking about.

But this could also be a cover to shake off rumors about the game. This would not be the first time we have seen actors hide their roles to keep things a surprise for audiences.

Additionally, Pierce was asked if he wanted something specific in The Last of Us Part 3. He stated that he wants to play as the bloaters, runners, or clickers. This, in theory, sounds interesting, and Naughty Dog could develop a Resident Evil-like mercenaries mode.

Nonetheless, The Last of Us Part 3 is not coming out soon since there was a huge 7-year gap between the first two entries. Assuming the studio takes a similar amount of time, Naughty Dog is unlikely to release Part 3 anytime soon.

However, the developer has ensured fans have plenty of content in the meantime.

The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is coming in early 2023, and a multiplayer spin-off is also in development, but this project is facing a few difficulties after Naughty Dog laid off many developers recently.
