Analyst Warns That Switch 2 Could Soon Cost $800, Says It’s A “Great Deal” at $499

The Rising Memory Prices Could Affect Nintendo Too!

Story Highlight
  • An analyst has warned that the Switch 2 could cost over $800 due to memory prices.
  • It’s a great deal at $499, and will be fine even at $679, but $800 is a bit too much.
  • Nintendo was the only console maker who managed to resist memory pricing somewhat.

The memory prices have shaken the gaming industry. PlayStation and Xbox Series consoles now cost way more than they did at launch, and the situation seems to be getting even worse. Additionally, Nintendo could be the next in line to follow.

An analyst has warned that the Nintendo Switch 2, at its current $499 price, is a great deal; however, due to the memory crisis, the handheld could soon cross $800, which won’t really be a justifiable price for this kind of hardware.

Why it matters: Nintendo was the only one who didn’t significantly increase their prices amid the ongoing crisis. That could soon change too, as it seems that the gaming giants aren’t able to absorb the price increases anymore.

The Nintendo Switch 2 could soon see price hikes, taking it to $800

Daniel Ahmad, Director of Research at Niko Partners, has warned about the incoming Nintendo Switch 2 price hike. He says that at $499, the handheld is a great deal. It’s still fine if you get it at $599 or $679.

However, if you wait longer, you might end up paying over $800 for the Switch 2, which will make it a not-so-ideal deal. What seemed like a revolutionary time for handheld gaming is now turning into a crisis due to memory issues.

Even hardware-wise, $800 wouldn’t make too much sense, as the Switch 2 doesn’t hold up against home consoles like the PS5 or Xbox Series, or even the Steam Deck, but if you still prefer a handheld experience, then it’s about to get really expensive
