Insider Potentially Teasing PlayStation State of Play For Next Week

State of Play Previously Expected In September!

The highly anticipated PS5 first-party title, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, is set for release in just over a month. Sony is heavily invested in the game, making no compromises during its development.

As the anticipation for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 continues to increase daily, a new rumor has added fuel to the fire. According to well-known insider Shinobi602, PlayStation may be gearing up for an exciting announcement next week.

Why it matters: PlayStation has skipped major events like Gamescom and the upcoming Tokyo Games Show in 2023. However, an earlier report from Jeff Grubb suggested that a PlayStation State of Play is right around the corner.

Resetera user Markratos recently commented on Sony’s lack of communication and said:

“The lack of communication from Sony at this point is sad.”

However, Shinobi602 replied:

“Well, this week is over now.”

While this does not directly point toward a State of Play, combining the small teaser with previous evidence has led many to believe that PlayStation is getting ready to make an announcement next week.

Traditionally, PlayStation has been known to conduct State of Play events in September. This was also the case in 2022 when the gaming giant hosted world premiers for massive titles like Tekken 8 and Rise of the Ronin.

As stated earlier, Jeff Grubb has already pointed to a State of Play for September. The leaker has been very credible in the past and accurately reported on the recent PlayStation events in 2023.

Therefore, Shinobi602’s latest teaser appears to be another hint at this event. He has also had a history of leaking information in the past.

Still, the insider could be pointing to something entirely different from PlayStation.

With Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 right around the corner, previews for the game could be released at any time, leading to speculation that this may have been what Shinobi602 pointed toward.

As such, it would be best to take the tease with a grain of salt until official information is revealed.

A potential State of Play is also likely to reveal the rumored PS5 detachable disc drive model. While the console has already been leaked, an official announcement is yet to be made.
