Starfield Tops Steam Best-Sellers List After Beating Baldur’s Gate 3

Best-Selling Game On Steam Ahead of Launch!

Starfield is just days away from taking players on a grand journey through space, and fans are now more ready than ever to get their hands on the game. With the promise of an exciting adventure through the most polished Bethesda Game Studios release, anticipation is high for the RPG.

Following the anticipation, the game joined the top 10 list of the best sellers on Steam a month before its release, recently climbing to the third spot on the list. However, much like the anticipation, Starfield has continued to rise on the Steam best-sellers list.

Three days before the early access period, Starfield is the best-selling title on Steam.

Why it matters: Many had expected Xbox Game Pass to hurt Starfield’s overall sales numbers. However, the expectations and Bethesda Game Studios’ strong modding support appear to have motivated Steam players to purchase the game.

Excluding free-to-play games, Starfield has conquered the top spot on the Steam best-sellers charts.

The game has finally beaten Baldur’s Gate 3, which has already established itself among the biggest releases of the year, potentially eligible for Game of The Year after becoming the best-rated 2023 release on Metacritic.

Nonetheless, Starfield has now taken the spotlight from Larian Studios’ impressive RPG. The recently released Armored Core 6 has also been pushed down, which is another commendable achievement for Bethesda Game Studios.

Armored Core 6 recently launched to over 156K concurrent players, exceeding expectations for a niche franchise returning after a decade.

Microsoft expects great things after the release of Starfield. In addition to record-breaking revenue, the Chief Marketing Officer of Xbox claimed that Starfield is the starting gun for Microsoft’s first-party titles.

Phil Spencer has also claimed that Microsoft plans to release four first-party titles every year, with 2023 marking the first instance of this schedule after Starfield and Forza Motorsport.

Judging by the buzz and excitement, Starfield appears to be on track for a massive launch. Across consoles, Steam, and Xbox Game Pass, the RPG is expected to welcome millions of new explorers to a massive world comprised of 1,000 planets in just a few days.
