Starfield Fans Believe The RPG Feels Dated Compared To Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 Is More Advanced And Immersive!

Starfield launched to much anticipation after Bethesda worked hard for eight years to make it as good as possible. However, the game faced stiff competition from RPGs like Baldur’s Gate 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty.

The latter is currently booming in popularity, recently reaching the most Steam concurrent players since its release in 2020. Unsurprisingly, this popularity has also led to comparisons between the two RPG games.

While fans continue to enjoy Starfield and find many great things about Bethesda’s take on sci-fi exploration, a recent Reddit post highlights a common sentiment. Many believe the game feels dated compared to Cyberpunk 2077.

Why it matters: Aspects like visuals and animations are essential to immersion in a game like Starfield or Cyberpunk 2077. Therefore, this strength has allowed many users to find the latter more appealing.

Starfield fans recently took to Reddit to discuss the differences between the two RPGs.

One fan claimed that Cyberpunk 2077 is more impressive after spending hundreds of hours in Starfield. While CDPR’s work falls behind in scope, it makes up for it with a more immersive world.

Fans pointed to the game’s excellent animations and NPC interactions, claiming they can continue to carry out tasks like eating or smoking as they interact with the players.

Meanwhile, Bethesda’s RPG falls short in the technological department. Apart from unimpressive character models and animations, some fans have also pointed to the lack of seamless traversal throughout the game.

While Cyberpunk 2077 allows players to seamlessly move between different locations in Night City, cities like Neon in Starfield force players to sit through several loading screens while moving between locations.

Such comparisons have also led to many fans claiming that Bethesda needs to upgrade its technology and deliver an RPG on par with modern standards of visuals and animations.

Nonetheless, both games have been successful. Cyberpunk 2077 has found positivity through the 2.0 update and Phantom Liberty, with CDPR finally fulfilling its wish for redemption.

On the other hand, Starfield has blasted past 10 million players, becoming Bethesda’s biggest release to date.

While Cyberpunk 2077 has had the benefit of three years of updates and refinement, Starfield has just been released. The game has a long road ahead, with Bethesda recently confirming future updates with inclusions like DLSS and FOV support.

Therefore, many are hopeful for massive improvements to the game, allowing its best aspects to shine once the studio addresses the major issues.
