- Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl releases later this year.
- The game has already climbed to the top of Steam’s wishlists.
- It beat games like Ark 2, Silent Hill 2, and more on the list.
Update as of March 6:
Following the launch of Manor Lords, Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl has climbed up the list. It now sits in the top 5 most wishlisted games on the platform.
Original Story:
Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is the long-anticipated new entry in a famous single-player IP. Combining survival elements, atmospheric horror, and first-person shooter gameplay, the game promises spine-chilling adventures in a post-apocalyptic world.
Thanks to the promise of a jaw-dropping Unreal Engine 5 showcase and this IP’s existing fame, the game is subject to mass anticipation from millions worldwide. In fact, Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is already among Steam’s most wishlisted games.
Why it matters: This is an early sign of success for GSC Game World since a high number of wishlists is encouraging for developers. Considering the trials and tribulations this team has been through, the Steam wishlists will continue to fuel passion for the project.
According to Steam, Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is the 6th most wishlisted game on the platform.
The game has firmly positioned itself among titles like Black Myth: Wukong, Hollow Knight Silksong, and Hades 2. Considering Manor Lords, the biggest game on the list, has reached 2 million wishlists, the rest have likely found similar popularity.
It is also important to note that games like Manorlords and Frostpunk 2 are nearly ready to be released. Meanwhile, Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is still several months out, provided the team does not delay it again.
The troubled development cycle of this project has resulted in gamers rallying in support of GSC Game World. Politics aside, the title seems brimming with potential, and the industry is rooting for the team to do its best.
Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is scheduled for a September 2024 launch. Moreover, the game will also be available on Game Pass, making the current wishlists on Steam even more impressive.
The first-person shooter aims to offer 60FPS gameplay and a narrative lasting around 40 hours. Unlike most modern AAA games, GSC Game World is not jumping to the $70 price standard.
Here’s hoping the team has definitively moved beyond the phase of constant delays, with the game being ready for release by the end of 2024. We also hope to see new gameplay from the developers at Xbox’s upcoming showcase in June.
