Stalker 2 Currently In Beta!

Story Highlights
  • Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl boasts incredible visuals, with the game targeting 60FPS on Xbox Series X.
  • Over on PC, the game is currently playable on a GTX 1060, but official system requirements will be revealed later.
  • Development is currently in the beta phase, and a Q1 2024 release window was set a few months ago.

Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is one of the most anticipated first-person shooters of 2024. With GSC Game World targeting a Q1 2024 release, most of the work on this game has already been completed.

The studio is now focused on polishing the game and ensuring it is released as a finished product. During a recent interview, the studio reiterated this focus and confirmed a 60FPS performance mode for the Xbox Series X.

Why it matters: 60FPS is crucial for first-person shooters, and games that typically skip this frame rate are given a tough time by the community.

In an interview with Gamersky, the developer was asked about an estimated performance target for Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl on the Xbox Series X. The studio said:

“The XSX console has two modes, performance and quality.”

The developer also confirmed that 60FPS is currently the target, ruling out the possibility of modes with even better frame rates, like 120FPS.

Since the question was specifically about the Xbox Series X performance, it remains to be seen if the Xbox Series S will offer a performance mode. Recent games like Alan Wake 2 have shown that studios are willing to skip a 60FPS mode on this console, citing the weak hardware as a limitation.

Since the game is still in development, GSC Game World could not confirm exact resolution targets for the Quality or Performance mode. However, we expect the latter to fall somewhere around 1080p before upscaling.

The studio also asserted that it is aiming for the GTX 1060 as the minimum graphics card requirement on PCs. While this hardware is much weaker than the typical requirement for new AAA titles, this will result in a barebones experience.

The good news is that Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is in a crucial stage of development. GSC Game World says:

“The game is currently in beta.”

STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl

When asked about meeting the Q1 2024 release window, GSC Game World appeared reluctant and claimed that the final polishing stage can always take longer than expected.

Therefore, while the developer hopes to meet this release window, there is no telling what may happen.

Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is a massive title for Xbox Series S|X, Game Pass, and PC in 2024.

The first-person shooter highlights GSC Game World’s story of persistence and determination against multiple obstacles. This has led to the game being considered a national product, and the team is willing to see it through till completion.
