Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell Remake Reportedly Delayed to 2027

Meanwhile, Far Cry 7 Continues To Go Through Development Hell!

Story Highlight
  • Ubisoft has been struggling for quite a while now with layoffs, delays, and cancellations.
  • The studio has also reportedly delayed the upcoming Splinter Cell Remake to 2027.
  • Far Cry 7, codenamed Blackbird, is allegedly going through development hell.

Ubisoft hasn’t had too much of a great time in recent years. Once massive game giants, their reputation has been slowly crumbling along with their stocks. Further not helping its cause are the repeated layoffs, game delays, and cancellations.

Now, according to a recent update, two of its biggest franchises are also facing a difficult time. Splinter Cell Remake, which was slated for a 2026 has now been delayed to 2027, and Far Cry 7 is going through development hell.

Why it matters: Even Splinter Cell’s development has been filled with hurdles. First, the title’s director left the studio, and shortly after that, it was hit with layoffs. There were also rumors of it being completely canceled.

In the latest episode of Insider Gaming Podcast, Tom Henderson and Mike Straw claimed that Splinter Cell Remake has now been delayed to 2027. It was among the batch of titles that were affected due to the layoffs earlier this year.

It seems that Ubisoft’s increased focus on Assassin’s Creed has diverted attention from its other major franchises. The studio, of course, is getting ready to launch Black Flag Resynced and also has Hexe in development.

Unfortunately, it’s no rainbows and sunshine for Far Cry 7 either, as it is still allegedly going through development hell. The project codenamed Blackbird is yet to be officially confirmed, but things aren’t promising.
