After previously suggesting that artificial intelligence would eventually enable a wish-granting genie, he recommends parents use the chatbot to generate podcasts about their kids.
Why it matters: The rise of AI has already led to plenty of privacy concerns, and Sam Altman’s recent tweet has led to similar concerns showing up yet again.
Sam Altman’s recent tweet notes that one use case of ChatGPT could be to connect family calendars with the chatbot and explain kids’ interests to the AI.
ChatGPT could then create podcasts for the parents and kids that discuss different events from the kids’ daily lives, such as a football game, an upcoming birthday, or any other interesting piece of information.
While a neat idea on paper, this tweet has led to quite a lot of criticism. In particular, many have argued that this would be a major privacy concern, since doing so would grant ChatGPT access to sensitive personal information.
Moreover, some also made snarky remarks aimed at Sam Altman, noting that perhaps it would be better for parents to simply communicate with their children instead.

Others pointed out that ChatGPT’s own disclaimers state that the technology is not meant for children. Many even criticized Sam Altman for recommending the chatbot as a substitute for “real human connection.”
The interesting part here is that Sam Altman himself is a parent. In the past, the OpenAI CEO has stated that he relies on the chatbot to raise his own son, often consulting ChatGPT for advice.
