Arkane Studios has a history of producing high-quality games, which includes releases like Dishonored and Prey. The developer’s previous release, Deathloop, was also considered a critical success.
However, Arkane Studios’ latest title, Redfall, has quickly become the team’s worst-rated release yet. The game has also received a plethora of negative reviews from Steam users, and it has now become the 14th worst-reviewed game on Steam.
Why it matters: Steam’s worst-reviewed games list does not have many major AAA titles. However, Redfall has made it high on the list, showing overall disappointment from users.
The site Steam250 tracks game reviews on Steam. This includes both positive and negative reviews. According to the site, Redfall can be found up high among the worst-reviewed Steam games.
Redfall has received criticism for its dated graphics, poor AI, and uninteresting narrative. To make matters worse, it continues the trend of poor PC ports, but the console version is equally disappointing with a lack of 60FPS.
Over 1600 out of the 2341 reviews on Steam for the game are currently negative. As such, it is not difficult to see how it managed to reach this spot on the list, despite the pre-release anticipation.
Furthermore, the worst reviewed Steam games list includes disappointing AAA titles like Battlefield 2042. The game lands on the 28th spot, which is still much better than Redfall’s current spot on the list.
Addressing the situation, Phil Spencer from Xbox has recently said:
“There’s nothing that’s more difficult for me than disappointing the Xbox community.”
Fans are now hoping Microsoft will not repeat the same mistake again. Starfield is expected to be the next big AAA release for Xbox, but it remains to be seen if the game will deliver the experience that many have been waiting for.
