PS5 Slim And More Games Coming Soon!

After skipping 2022, PlayStation held its highly anticipated gaming showcase in May, and it became this year’s most-viewed gaming showcase. However, many found the show underwhelming, and reports claimed that PlayStation could hold another showcase.

According to Nick, an insider from Xboxera, PlayStation will reportedly hold another gaming event next month to reveal the highly anticipated PS5 Slim.

Why it matters: The last PlayStation showcase disappointed fans as it did not reveal many new first-party games. However, another showcase could compensate for the disappointment.

Xbox and other gaming giants are expected to join Gamescom in August.

However, PlayStation previously confirmed it would not be attending Gamescom. As such, PlayStation may hold its showcase earlier to combat Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, which is expected to go through by next month.

The PS5 Slim has already been rumored for a long while. Sony has begun to offer various discounts on existing consoles, potentially hinting at the gaming giant’s intentions to clear stock before the new release.

The slim console will reportedly feature a detachable disc drive. It is expected to cost $400, with the detachable disc drive being sold for an additional $100.

The gaming giant previously announced Project Q, a handheld device capable of streaming games from the PS5 console. PlayStation is likely to elaborate on the handheld at the showcase.

Rumors also claim Sony is working on a PS5 Pro, which could be released next year. In comparison, Xbox will not release a mid-gen console refresh as Microsoft already believes that the Xbox Series X is like a console refresh.

Aside from the hardware reveals, games like Marvel’s Wolverine and a potential remaster of The Last of Us Part 2 could show up at the eventHowever, this remains to be seen, and it would be best to take the leak with a slight grain of salt until official confirmation.

It is also possible that PlayStation will reveal the new hardware through a State of Play. Nonetheless, the next few months could be very exciting for PlayStation fans worldwide.
