He Does Admit That Rising Hardware Prices Aren't Good For Anyone!

Story Highlight
  • Strauss Zelnick says GTA 6 sales won’t be affected by the rising PS5 and Xbox prices.
  • He admits that the hardware costs aren’t good for anyone, and there shouldn’t be any argument.
  • Despite the prices, console sales will undoubtedly boost due to Rockstar’s flagship release.

The gaming industry isn’t in the best of places, but Take-Two is really enjoying the months leading up to the GTA 6 release. The company has recorded staggering pre-order numbers and is expecting massive profits going into November.

Amid all this, Take-Two CEO has said that rising PS5 and Xbox Series console prices won’t hurt GTA 6 sales. However, he did admit that the rising hardware costs aren’t good for anyone, and they won’t argue about it either.

Why it matters: GTA 6 is expected to be the single biggest event in gaming in decades, and the sales estimates already point to whopping numbers never seen before, and the hype will only increase with the new trailer.

Zelnick says the high pricing for consoles won’t affect GTA 6 sales

Lower price point for hardware would be a good thing because there’d be more hardware in people’s hands. So I cannot argue this is a positive, but equally we don’t see it as a headwind either and it won’t slow us down.

During the investor call, Strauss Zelnick talked about how inflation has hit the gaming industry following the memory crisis. He says that the rising costs are bad, but that won’t really affect GTA 6 sales.

PlayStation 5 Xbox Series X
PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series are at their highest prices ever

Leading up to the release, we’ve had several price hikes, and the PS5 and the Series consoles are at their highest prices ever. Previous reports also revealed that sales are taking a hit, which led to AMD’s fall in revenue too.

However, considering how big GTA 6 is, it is expected to boost console sales despite high prices. Xbox has been doing a bit better despite the overall low sales, and this will be a chance for Microsoft to boost its numbers as well.
