Ubisoft’s original Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was a huge hit when it was launched in 2003; following the game’s success, Ubisoft announced a remake of the game in 2020, 17 years after it was launched. The remake was supposed to come out in 2021, but it was pushed back to Fiscal Year 2023, and it now looks like it’s been gone back again for an indefinite period.

Retailers like Gamestop delisted Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, and those who pre-ordered were told the game would not be delivered. Amazon has stopped processing pre-orders since May 24th. Many gamers are worried that the project has been canceled.

An industry insider, Wario64, tweeted:

IGN contacted Ubisoft and obtained an official statement on the matter. According to Ubisoft,

The development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will now be led by Ubisoft Montreal.

Ubisoft also added,

As a consequence, we are no longer targeting a FY23 release anymore, and the game has been delisted. If players wish to cancel their preorder, they are invited to contact their retailer. They will be updated on the project as the development is moving along

Many fans are divided on the decision to delay the game again. Some believe it was a good decision, while others disagree and they want the game to be released as soon as possible.

When the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake was announced, fans were ecstatic, but that joy has since turned to frustration due to how poorly the game visually appealed to many fans and the game’s repeated delays.

We hope that the game is not further delayed, that the graphics are improved, and that the game turns out as expected.
