First-Party Studios Are Ready!

The PlayStation showcase is among the best gaming events each year, with the entire industry looking forward to more information on PlayStation IPs, future hardware, and more.

Rumors about an imminent PlayStation showcase have been circulating for quite some time. Talking about these rumors, a well-known gaming personality and game dev, Shinobi602, recently asserted that numerous PlayStation teams are ready to showcase their games.

Why it matters: PlayStation has not held a big showcase since 2021. Many of the gaming giant’s first-party studios have also not released new games for a while, and fans have been curious to learn about their next projects.

He stated:

“I know a good amount of teams are at a point where things are certainly ready to be shown.”

Previously, industry insider Jeff Grubb also stated that the PlayStation showcase will likely take place in May. He further noted that the showcase could be delayed to June, possibly before June 8.

Going by the report, PlayStation studios like Naughty Dog, Sucker Punch, Bend Studio, and more should be ready to reveal more details about their upcoming games. These studios have remained silent, and several years have passed since their last releases.

With studios like Insomniac Games and Naughty Dog, fans could see gameplay for projects that have already been announced. This could include games like Marvel’s Wolverine and The Last of Us multiplayer.

The PlayStation showcase would also be the perfect opportunity to learn more about upcoming hardware. Recent rumors have mentioned a detachable disc drive model for PS5, and it could be finally revealed at this showcase.

Insomniac Games’ Spiderman 2 will likely be the highlight for the showcase since it has an official release date of Fall 2023, and information regarding the game has been very scarce. PlayStation could also announce the gaming giant’s next set of PC ports.

Nonetheless, fans have been patiently waiting for a PlayStation showcase. According to the report, first-party developers are ready, and new announcements could be right around the corner.
