Hogwarts Legacy is set to release in early 2023. Since the initial reveal, Harry Potter fans have been impressed at the prospect of the ultimate Hogwarts experience. While Harry Potter might not appear in the game, Hogwarts Legacy offers an immersive experience through the world of the Harry Potter universe.
Hogwarts Legacy has been announced for nearly every platform. The game will be released on PC and all consoles, including the Nintendo Switch. However, PlayStation has an exclusivity deal for the much-anticipated title.
The game’s latest trailer looks at the upcoming Haunted Hogsmeade Shop. This is a quest exclusive to PlayStation consoles, and it has been revealed that exclusivity will last until February 10, 2024.
The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop includes additional items like the Shopkeeper’s Cosmetic Set. An extra dungeon, among other items, will also be exclusive to PlayStation consoles.
This exclusivity will mean that players on other platforms will need to wait at least a year if they intend to play the exclusive quest. However, it is unclear when the quest will be made available for other platforms after the exclusivity period.
PlayStation has been known to sign similar third-party exclusivity deals for many new releases. The gaming giant currently has a long-running partnership with Call of Duty, leading to various forms of exclusive content over the years.
Similarly, Arcane Studios’ Deathloop was also console exclusive to PlayStation 5. Over a year later, Deathloop is set to release on Xbox Series S|X on September 20, 2022.
While fans might be disappointed at the exclusivity, Hogwarts Legacy still has much to be excited about. The game boasts an engaging open world with deep customization for the created characters. Fans can expect everything that they have come to love from the franchise.
Hogwarts Legacy releases on February 10, 2023. However, this will not include the Nintendo Switch version of the game. A particular date will be announced for the Nintendo Switch release sometime in the future.
