The Nintendo Switch 2 was announced earlier this month with a price of $450 around the globe. However, Nintendo soon found itself surrounded by uncertainty amid the new US tariffs, with rumors suggesting a price hike.
Nearly two weeks after the initial announcement, the gaming giant has finally broken its silence. The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to retail for the same price, but new prices for its accessories have been announced.
Why it matters: Console gamers typically spend a lot of money on accessories and additional purchases over the course of a generation, so this move could prove beneficial for Nintendo in the long run.
In a new article, Nintendo stated that pre-orders for its latest console in the US would begin on April 24. The gaming giant also confirmed that both hardware and game pricing would remain the same despite the persisting controversy around Mario Kart World’s MSRP.
As for the accessories, supporting Nintendo Switch 2 items will now cost an additional $5-10. This pricing will see more expensive items like the new Pro Controller and Joy-Con Pair being priced at $84.99 and $94.99, respectively.
Both these controllers are now $5 more expensive, bringing them even closer to the $100 mark. Other accessories, like the camera and AC adapter, have seen a similar price hike.
The good news is that the gaming giant has kept console pricing consistent. Many fans were already surprised by the $450 MSRP of the Nintendo Switch 2, and analysts believed that the price took potential tariffs into account.
This may be one reason Nintendo has been able to preserve the $450 price despite the challenging global market expected in the coming years. Perhaps other companies like Xbox and PlayStation will follow suit and increase the prices of accessories in a similar manner.
