A New Transformers Game Is Reportedly In Development, Secret Playtests Already Underway

Could It Finally Be The AAA Transformers Game We All Wanted?

Story Highlight
  • Rumors suggest that a new Transformers game is reportedly in development with G1 licensing.
  • An agency is already sending out secret playtest invitations under NDA to gamers.
  • Pre-registration begins July 2026, with a full reveal expected pretty soon.

Transformers is one of those remarkable entertainment franchises that has been explored well via every other medium except video games. Attempts over the last decade have either fallen short or ended up being cancelled before they could be realized.

Now, new rumors suggest that such a well-developed AAA Transformers shooter might actually happen sooner than we expected. A game under G1 (Generation One) licensing is reportedly in the works with secret playtests already underway.

Why it matters: A full-fledged AAA Transformers title could prove to be extremely popular among the starving new and veteran fans of the franchise.

This rumor mill comes from RoboGamer1HD, a known leaker who revealed details about the cancelled Transformers: Reactivate. He received information about a secret Transformers project by László Vén, another accurate leaker involved with the franchise.

An unknown studio is allegedly working on this game, and a Chinese agency has already started sending secret invites under NDA to players for playtesting and providing feedback for the unnamed developers to consider.

The agency being Chinese and supposed pre-registrations for the game beginning in July make the insider think this could be a mobile project in the worst-case scenario.

However, he also argues that a studio like Saber Interactive could be working on a full-fledged AAA Transformers game for consoles instead.

It’s also unclear whether this game is related to one of Microsoft’s two Transformers games that were reportedly in development nearly two years ago.

Transformers Reactivate
Transformers: Reactivate’s cancellation upset many fans of the franchise.

Some fans argue it might have Helldivers-like gameplay, where you fight against armies of Decepticon soldiers. It’s also possible that the game could be PvP with a scale as big as PlanetSide 2.

Regardless, this unnamed Transformers game could be shown in the upcoming Summer Game Fest, given the current timeline. But we suggest taking everything with a pinch of salt for now.
