Expected At PlayStation Showcase!

E3 2023 was canceled after many gaming companies, including Xbox, decided to hold their own showcases. A PlayStation showcase is also rumored to take place before Summer Game Fest. Several leaks indicate Mortal Kombat 12 may be announced during the event.

During a recent Twitch livestream, industry insider Jeff Grubb revealed that the rumored PlayStation Showcase is likely to take place in May. However, he noted that there is a chance the event might be pushed back to a later date in June, possibly before June 8, as reported earlier.

Warner Bros. has previously confirmed Mortal Kombat 12 this year in an investors call, but a proper reveal is yet to come. Nick Baker, co-host of the popular gaming podcast XboxEra, has also suggested that the game may be announced in May.

It is no coincidence that the PlayStation Showcase is rumored to take place this month, and it may be the venue for the long-awaited reveal.

There is speculation that PlayStation may have acquired the marketing rights, but this has not been confirmed. We highly recommend waiting for the PlayStation showcase, whether it takes place in May or June.

The reveal of Mortal Kombat 12 is imminent, as the game is set to launch this year, and Ed Boon gave a six-month reveal window back in December 2022. The official website of Mortal Kombat has also received an update, adding to the excitement surrounding the announcement.

Mortal Kombat 12 will be the first entry in the franchise since 2019’s Mortal Kombat 11, which was highly successful and generated over $500 million in profits as of February 2022.

Fighting games are making a comeback, with recent announcements like Tekken 8 and Street Fighter 6. The latter is slated for release this year, and Tekken might follow as well.

It will be exciting to see how Mortal Kombat compares to these two IPs. Judging by how different the last three Mortal Kombat games were, we can expect a new gameplay style for the next entry.
