The Title Was Released Nearly Two Months Ago!

Story Highlight
  • Monster Hunter Wilds was released nearly two months ago.
  • The title is currently the best-selling game of the year.
  • It has managed to beat huge releases like Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and others to be on the top of the list.

Monster Hunter Wilds was released in February as a significantly improved and expanded version of its predecessor. The game had a massive start, reaching around a million players just on the release day on Steam.

While we are already four months into 2025 and have seen massive releases like Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, recent data suggests that Monster Hunter Wilds remains the best-selling game of the year.

Why it matters: The title sold over 10 million copies during its first month of launch, setting a sales record for Capcom and making the franchise a huge success.

Mat Piscatella recently released a new data report confirming that Monster Hunter Wilds is still the best-selling game of 2025, despite being released nearly two years ago.

The title has surpassed massive releases like Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, which was also released earlier in February and saw a massive launch, currently sitting in third place on the list.

Monster Hunter Wilds is also ahead of recently launched Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which was March’s best-selling title in the US and is currently the second-best-selling game of the year.

It was also recently noted that the title remains among the top-selling games on Steam, despite being released over two months ago. It’s great to see that the franchise is still performing well, despite new launches.
