Marvel’s Blade Entered Production In Late 2024

Expect Release Around 3 Years From Now!

Story Highlight
  • Marvel’s Blade was announced nearly two years ago at The Game Awards.
  • Arkane Lyon’s financial statements reveal the game has been in production for around six months.
  • It could be launched at some point in 2027 or 2028, given current AAA timelines.

Xbox first announced Marvel’s Blade in late 2023, and the game has been missing from major events since then. Being developed by Arkane Lyon, the project is said to borrow from the studio’s DNA of stealth-action games.

The game was previously reported to be in development for two years at the time of the announcement, and a financial statement from last year reveals that it entered production in the same year.

Why it matters: Marvel’s Blade is expected to launch at some point in 2027. If the game entered production last year, it will likely require at least two more years to be completed.

As shown above, the studio began production of its latest AAA project in late 2024. This means that this phase has been ongoing for about six months, potentially setting the stage for a new appearance at The Game Awards 2025 or any of the other upcoming events.

It should be noted that modern AAA productions last anywhere from three to four years. Due to the game’s current progress, fans speculate that it will launch as a cross-gen Xbox title, debuting on both current and next-generation consoles.

Marvel’s Blade is making use of the same Void engine as Deathloop and other Arkane Lyon titles, but the studio has likely made key upgrades to the technology since then. As such, Marvel’s Blade could also become a showcase for Xbox’s next-generation hardware.

Nonetheless, excitement for Marvel’s Blade remains high. Marvel’s film based on the same character appears to be stalled for now, so fans are eager to see what Arkane Lyon will do with the gaming adaptation while they wait for the film.
