You Can Unlock Jin Sakai And Other Characters In The New Game Mode!

Story Highlight
  • Sucker Punch has confirmed Jin Sakai is returning as a playable character in Ghost of Yotei.
  • He will be unlockable as part of the new single-player survival mode.
  • The game is also getting a narrative DLC, both of which will launch on October 1st.

Ghost of Yotei has been one of the best-performing Sony exclusives in a long while, and it sold more than its predecessor in the same period. Nevertheless, many gamers were too fond of the ‘Ghost’ from the first game and struggled to accept the new protagonist.

It appears Sucker Punch Productions has heard this critique. The developers have announced a whole new single-player combat survival mode for Ghost of Yotei, which will let you unlock multiple characters, including the fan-favorite Jin Sakai.

Why it matters: The new single-player combat survival mode will give players another reason to play Ghost of Yotei again, as it will let you experience the game in a whole new light. Playing as Jin Sakai has been a long-standing wish for many fans of the franchise, after all.

The announcement came as part of the new PlayStation State of Play Ghost of Yotei trailer, which announces the new ‘Most Wanted’ single-player mode and reconfirms the Echoes of Sekigahara narrative expansion.

Regarding the new single-player mode, you will have to choose a character and then take on tough bounties. Players will be able to choose between Atsu, Oyuki, or Jin Sakai.

Players can also select bounty perks with different modifiers, such as an ability that lets you attack an enemy with a double katana 5 times to summon a wolf.

You will have to complete various runs to unlock perks and characters. This will certainly increase the replayability of Ghost of Yotei since lack of replayability had been a major criticism of the title.

Both the expansion and the survival mode will launch on October 1st and will be available via a patch.
