Alan Wake 2 Runs Much Better On Intel Arc GPUs After Beta Update

Around 20% Better Performance!

Story Highlights
  • Intel has released a new Beta driver for new games like Alan Wake 2, Ghostrunner 2, and more.
  • In Alan Wake 2, the update brings around 20-22% higher frame rates, depending on the setting and resolution.
  • However, Intel notes that various bugs and crashing problems are yet to be addressed.

Intel is making progress day by day in the GPU market through new GPU drivers. Its graphics driver 31.0.101.4900 Beta already supports the latest titles on the market, such as Alan Wake 2, Cities: Skylines 2, and Ghostrunner 2.

A few performance enhancements are also being prepared in the most recent updates. These drivers enhance performance in Alan Wake 2 by 20% on average at 1080p resolution and High graphics quality.

With graphics quality set to Medium and 2K/1440p resolution, the performance gain is up to 22%. These are positive results for Alan Wake 2 since the game is quite a visual treat on all settings.

Why it matters: Fast and frequent driver updates are essential for Intel Arc graphics cards since the company is still finding its footing in this industry. Unlike the competition, Intel has a lot of ground to make up.

Major improvements have also been made in Cities: Skylines 2. This title was infamous for its poor performance at release, but Intel boasts noticeable improvements with the latest update.

Using the DirectX 11 API, Cities: Skylines 2 performs up to 34% better at 1080p High graphics. Dropping to Medium settings at 2K resolution, the performance improves by up to 26%.

Currently, the Beta drivers do not bring any bug fixes. Because of this, these drivers are similar to Nvidia’s Game Ready drivers, which are meant to improve the experience for the latest releases.

Intel notes that current drivers can show issues like Ghostrunner 2 crashing mid-game in DirectX 11, Halo Infinite crashing in DirectX 12, dynamic resolution leading to corruption in Starfield, and more.

However, Intel’s track record suggests these problems won’t linger for long. You can download the Intel Arc Beta Driver 31.0.101.4900 from the official website.
