id Software has developed some of the biggest franchises, including Quake, Doom, and more. While the last entry from the developers came out over four years ago, we are finally closer to hearing more information about the next game from id Software.

A reliable leaker has suggested that id Software’s next release could be shown as soon as the next Xbox showcase.

Why it matters: id Software has been missing from the industry for a long time as the studio supported its last release with DLCs and helped other developers over the past few years.

Nate The Hate, one of the most reliable insiders in the gaming industry, recently addressed the Gears franchise. He was also the first to reveal Xbox’s multiplatform strategy. The insider was recently asked about id Software.

He stated that this team plans to announce its next game this year officially.

The insider has not revealed much, but the Xbox Games Showcase is right around the corner. Scheduled for June, this event would be perfect for a major reveal from one of the industry’s finest teams.

Nate The Hate also seems to have confirmed that id Software is not working on Quake. As recent teasers suggested, MachineGames may be working on this series alongside Indiana Jones.

It is important to note that id Software’s next game will use the id Tech 8 engine, utilizing the current-gen consoles to the fullest and allowing fans to enjoy immersive experiences.

While it is recommended to take the leak with a grain of salt, Xbox’s 2024 showcase has a lot of potential. Following recent teasers, games from major studios like id Software, The Coalition, and more could show up.

With all of these teams joining forces, Xbox could be on track for its best gaming showcase to date.

Reports state that Xbox is planning to host its annual showcase on June 9. This event will serve as the main stage for all publishers under Microsoft, including Bethesda, Activision Blizzard, and more.
