Nearly 4K Signatures In 3 Days Already!

Story Highlights
  • Xbox fans are petitioning to bring Helldivers 2 over to their platform.
  • This petition has already received nearly 4K signatures.
  • The game has managed to exceed expectations by breaking multiple CCU records.

Helldivers 2 has managed to succeed beyond everyone’s expectations and become a force to be reckoned with. No one knew what to expect from the title, but it ended up being a hit for PlayStation.

In fact, the game is so popular that fans have started a petition for Helldivers 2 on Xbox.

Why it matters: Sony’s first live service game in years launched on both PlayStation and PC. The game has also surpassed Halo on the platform despite the free-to-play advantage of this Xbox shooter.

Over on Change.org, this petition was created just three days ago. However, in this short period, nearly 4K have signed the petition.

Fans argue that Helldivers 2 is about co-op and wholesome moments, as admitted by the director recently. However, the fact that Xbox players are left out of this experience is counterintuitive to the ultimate goal.

Isaiah Hardin, who created this petition, stated that PlayStation could redefine the console wars and strive for unity. He believes this can usher in a new age of friendly competition between PlayStation and Xbox.

Similarly, Phil Spencer recently commented that Helldivers 2 exclusivity does not help anyone. The Head of Microsoft Gaming praised the game, but he feels left out due to this co-op shooter’s exclusivity.

Helldivers 2 Is One of The Best Co-op Shooter In Recent Years

Hiroki Totoki, president of Sony, recently hinted at a multiplatform approach involving PC gaming. However, the gaming giant is not ready to commit to Xbox releases. Meanwhile, Xbox is going a different route, confirming four games for the other platforms.

Still, these games will not include Indiana Jones or Starfield.

In a potential scenario where games like Halo and Helldivers 2 began to transcend traditional console exclusivity, the fans would be the ultimate winners. However, these console brands would lose part of their identity in the process since this practice has been so deeply ingrained into the gaming industry’s roots.

Nonetheless, with all the recent developments, we long to see what the future holds as all gaming giants continue to evolve and adopt new strategies for growth.
