- 343 Industries underwent some changes, and the studio will be shifting to Unreal Engine 5 for future projects.
- This shift has convinced the fandom that the future Halo games are indeed coming to the PlayStation 5.
- Digital Foundry has also commented on it, saying that the shift to UE5 would make it easier to port the game to other platforms.
Just recently, 343 Industries changed its name to Halo Studios, and fans are concerned about the staff changes. The studio is going through many changes, for better or worse. That said, the developer is moving away from its Slipstream engine.
Instead of that, it will be using Unreal Engine 5 for future projects. Due to this change, many believe that Halo will now be coming to PlayStation 5; not only that, but experts have also said that this change could be made for this very reason.
Why it matters: Halo is one of the most prominent franchises in the industry, and it did wonders for Xbox, so its release on PlayStation might anger a massive fandom.
Speaking to Eurogamer, the chief of Digital Foundry, Richard Leadbetter, said that shifting to Unreal Engine 5 would make it easier to release the game on other platforms. So, porting a game made with UE5 would be easier than a game made via the Slipspace engine.
From a multi-platform game development perspective, moving to Unreal Engine 5 would certainly be easier for the developer than porting across the existing Slipspace engine.

He then explains that an engine designed for deployment across multiple platforms would be easier to work with. While this is just speculation, it has made many fans believe that Halo is indeed coming to PlayStation now.
While PS fans are happy, Xbox fans might not be delighted to hear this news. There were already many rumors regarding this franchise coming to PlayStation, and some notable insiders reported on them.
That is what makes this speculation make a lot of sense. That said, Halo Studios could be moving to Unreal Engine 5 solely on the basis of improving their next game. UE5 is a powerful engine, so it makes sense for the developer to shift to it, as the Slipspace engine might not be enough.
While Microsoft could be considering releasing the future games on multiple platforms it is better to take this information with a grain of salt as nothing has been confirmed so far.
