- Analysts say the GTA 6 extended look helped Netflix gain over 100,000 US sign-ups.
- This figure marked Netflix’s third-highest sign-up peak of 2026.
- Over 5% of all inactive US viewers also returned to Netflix for GTA 6.
Last month, Rockstar Games showcased GTA 6 gameplay that quickly garnered fan attention globally.
Many praised the game for its visuals, voice acting, and overall polish, quickly leading to explosive excitement for the upcoming release. An analysis now reveals that Netflix also saw over 100K new sign-ups thanks to GTA 6.
Why it matters: Many questioned Netflix’s exclusivity for GTA 6, but things appear to have ultimately worked out in both studios’ favor.

GTA 6 reportedly gave Netflix a major subscriber boost after its extended look was made exclusive to the platform for six hours. According to Ampere Analysis, the preview led to over 100,000 new Netflix sign-ups in the US.
Because the exclusivity window was so small, this figure is quite impressive. Moreover, the analysts note that GTA 6 ended up falling behind only the Stranger Things finale and the Rousey vs Carano MMA fight.
As such, GTA 6 marked Netflix’s 3rd biggest subscriber peak this year. The game also saw 5% of inactive US subscribers return to Netflix. All in all, the partnership between Rockstar Games and Netflix ended up being nothing but a major success.

This success might lead to Netflix pursuing similar exclusivity for bigger games more often in the future. Perhaps titles like The Witcher 4 or The Elder Scrolls 6 will partner with Netflix next.
