God of War Voice Actor Hints At The Return Of Tyr

New Game Already In Development?

God of War Ragnarok was recently released for PlayStation consoles, and the game quickly rose to new heights. With its incredible sales and reception, many fans had already expected to see a new adventure for Kratos on the PS5.

While nothing has been officially announced yet, the voice actor for Tyr has dropped a tiny hint at the future of God of War. Speaking at the recent PAX East 2023 God of War panel, he said:

“I’ll say this, it isn’t the last you’ve seen of Tyr.”

God of War Ragnarok

A new God of War game was never a question, seeing how the franchise has exploded in popularity since 2018. While the Norse saga ended with Ragnarok, the games have a lot of potential for new realms and stories.

Tyr’s presence would likely feel out of place in a new realm if the voice actor was teasing a new game. A new DLC for God of War Ragnarok is also unlikely since the Director has previously stated that the team put everything in the base game.

However, Santa Monica could work on a smaller-scale spin-off set in the Norse realm. PlayStation games like Uncharted have previously done this with Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and Tyr would fit perfectly in such a game.

Another possibility is that the voice actor referred to the upcoming God of War TV show from Amazon. Like the Last of Us TV show, Amazon could expand on some side characters, leaving the door open for a more significant focus on Tyr even if Ragnarok is not covered in the first season.

There is no shortage of possibilities for God of War in the future. Sony Santa Monica has proven to be an exceptional developer for PlayStation, and any new project from the team would send a wave of excitement throughout the industry.

Tyr was also one of the better additions to God of War Ragnarok’s cast of characters, and another appearance from the character could allow the developer to flesh him out further through new stories and more screen time.
