Ghost of Yotei Potentially In Trouble!

Story Highlight
  • Ghost of Yotei is set to be PlayStation’s biggest game this year.
  • Courtney Woods and John Dombrow, two major Dragon Age: The Veilguard writers, are working on Ghost of Yotei.
  • Their inclusion in the writing team has sparked concerns since the latest Dragon Age entry was criticized for its poor writing.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard marks one of EA’s biggest commercial flops, potentially ending the franchise for good. Among other things, the game was criticized for its writing and story, leaving a bad taste in fans’ mouths.

Following a surprisingly poor level of writing, fans are concerned about Ghost of Yotei falling victim to similar issues later this year. While this concern may seem uncalled for, recent findings confirm that the two games share the same writing staff.

Why it matters: Ghost of Tsushima’s sequel is PlayStation’s most significant game this year, so the gaming giant cannot afford to make any mistakes.

As seen above, Courtney Woods currently works as a senior writer on Ghost of Yotei. She was previously involved in various BioWare projects, with the most recent being Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

Elsewhere, we also spotted that John Dombrow (via IMDB), who also worked on Dragon Age: The Veilguard, is part of the Ghost of Yotei writing team. The writer specifically worked on the character Davrin in Dragon Age’s latest instalment.

The silver lining here is that John Dombrow previously worked on Mass Effect 3, one of BioWare’s most beloved releases. Similarly, Courtney Woods has been involved in past BioWare projects.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is far from their best work, so Ghost of Yotei could still turn out to be very different. Some fans have also pointed out that the upcoming PlayStation title shares the same director as Ghost of Tsushima, giving the fandom hope that the sequel will stay consistent with its predecessor’s themes and tone.
