- Ghost of Yotei official arrives on October 2.
- The game has received a new trailer outlining Atsu’s quest for vengeance against the Yotei Six.
- PlayStation is promising a non-linear story, new gameplay elements, and more for this title.
Ghost of Yotei marked one of PlayStation’s biggest announcements in 2024. Finally confirming the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, PlayStation announced various new additions to the series, and many even named the sequel their most anticipated title of 2025.
Following much anticipation and speculation, a new Ghost of Yotei trailer has arrived out of nowhere. The game has also received a release date along with this extended look.
Why it matters: Fans have waited more than five years to finally revisit Sucker Punch Productions’ highly revered franchise.
Ghost of Yotei arrives on October 2 for the PS5 and PS5 Pro. The game will be available to pre-order next week across various editions priced differently based on their in-game perks and benefits.
PlayStation’s latest trailer has also revealed quite a bit about Atsu’s story. The series’ new lead starts out on a quest to avenge her family as she hunts the Yotei Six, outlaws who murdered her family.
According to the blog post, this narrative will play out in a non-linear fashion, giving players the agency to tackle each of the six main villains in any order. Moreover, the game’s setting, Ezo, is said to be full of mysteries and exploration opportunities.
These elements will come together to form an evolutionary step beyond the core gameplay established in Ghost of Tsushima. Many of these changes are already visible in the latest footage, including the new weapons and setting.
Fans can expect even more Ghost of Yotei gameplay in the months leading up to launch. PlayStation will likely share uncut gameplay, developer interviews, and more as the marketing for the game ramps up.
