Ghost of Tsushima Impressed Shinji Mikami

Ghost of Tsushima is among the newest IPs from PlayStation and developer Sucker Punch Productions. The studio returned to the industry with the Japanese action-adventure title in 2020, following a six-year gap after Infamous Second Son.

The game quickly became a fan favorite due to its setting and exciting gameplay. It has since received praise from various developers, and recently, the Resident Evil creator has also said great things about Ghost of Tsushima.

Why it matters: Shinji Mikami has worked on various genre-defining titles like Resident Evil 4, Dino Crisis, and more. His approval means that Sucker Punch Productions and PlayStation did a phenomenal job with the game.

Shinji Mikami has just finished Ghost of Tsushima, and the developer had a lot of fun with the game. In particular, he pointed to the finale, saying that the last part was great.

As stated earlier, Shinji Mikami has been involved in a number of critically acclaimed games. Not only has the developer worked on various survival horror games, but he was also a part of the development of action games like Devil May Cry and God Hand.

Shinji Mikami is also not the first developer to praise Sucker Punch Productions for their work. Previously, Yakuza Director Toshihiro Nagoshi had numerous positive things to say about the game.

Similarly, Final Fantasy 16 Producer Naoki Yoshida had this to say about Ghost of Tsushima:

“It impressed me on so many levels.”

Previously, Ghost of Tsushima earned universal praise for many aspects. It told an engaging tale of a Samurai dealing with morality and what it means to follow the honor of the Samurai against a fierce opponent.

In addition to the narrative, Sucker Punch Productions also delivered a unique art style for the game. This made it stand out among many games that already looked visually pleasing during the PS4 console generation.

With recent job listings hinting at a sequel, fans may hear about another entry in the franchise soon. PlayStation could also be looking to port the game to PC before the inevitable sequel.

However, till then, Ghost of Tsushima remains one of the best games set in Japan, and Japanese developers have been just as impressed with the game as general audiences.
