- Gears of War E-Day was just revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase.
- Microsoft did not share a release window for this first-party title.
- An insider now claims that The Coalition is targeting a 2025 launch.
The Coalition is officially back with Gears of War E-Day. Following the Xbox Games Showcase, the first trailer for a more gritty and serious prequel is now out in the wild, but Microsoft has yet to share information on a release date.
While nothing has been said officially, recent reports indicate that the title will launch much sooner than anticipated.
Why it matters: Xbox did not share any release window for the title. Many assumed that this was a hint at a 2026 launch.
According to a report from Tom Warren, The Coalition’s latest release could arrive before Fable.
For reference, Xbox confirmed a 2025 launch for Fable. However, the insider reports that Playground Games is targeting a Q4 2025 launch for the RPG, potentially landing between October and December for a release.
Therefore, Gears of War E-Day could launch in Q2 or Q3 of 2025. If this release window is accurate, The Coalition may also share new gameplay before the end of the year since the project is likely nearing completion.
With Xbox expected to share even more information on its first-party slate at Gamescom, perhaps Gears of War E-Day will show up again.
Gears of War E-Day has fans worldwide excited for the IP’s return. The Coalition has taken a break from its ongoing storyline, returning to a more faithful take on the series. However, fans can also expect the modern story to be picked up later, with the new generation getting more time in the spotlight.
With Gears of War E-Day supposedly joining Xbox’s 2025 lineup, Microsoft has at least three huge IPs lined up for next year, thanks to Doom: The Dark Ages and Fable, which are both already confirmed for 2025.
