The Game Has Made Over $300 Million In Revenue On The PS5.

Story Highlight
  • Forza Horizon 5 has now sold 5 million copies on the PlayStation 5.
  • The Playground Games title has made $300 million in revenue on the platform.
  • The racing game also topped PlayStation charts when it was released last year.

Despite the initial negativity and doubt from Xbox fans, the company’s multi-platform strategy has been doing well so far. First-party titles from Xbox have performed exceptionally on the PS5, accounting for 60% of the top 10 best-selling games on the platform in Q2 2025.

By far, the company’s biggest export to PlayStation has been Forza Horizon 5, with the game grossing $100 million in just two months. Now, the racing title has hit a new sales landmark on the platform, showcasing its consistent success.

Why It Matters: Forza Horizon 5 grossing $300 million for Xbox just from a port shows that the company’s multi-platform approach is financially viable.

According to Rhys Elliot from Alinea Analytics, Forza Horizon 5 has sold over 5 million copies on PS5, reaching this astonishing landmark this week. The racing title has now made more than $300 million in revenue for Xbox just from this port.

Forza Horizon 5 has also been beating out some exclusive heavy hitters on the PS5, as the Playground title sold four times more than Death Stranding last year while topping PlayStation sales charts alongside Oblivion Remastered.

Despite such tremendous success, Microsoft is still not releasing Forza Horizon 6 on the PS5 day one. The upcoming racing title is set to launch this year on PC and Xbox Series X|S, but no release window has been announced for the PlayStation port.

Considering how Forza Horizon 6 is set in Japan, the home of PlayStation, delaying the game’s launch will only lose Xbox sales.

On the whole, however, the company’s third-party strategy is turning out to be successful thus far, and with the holy trinity of Xbox first-party titles now heading to PS5, Microsoft is bound to make more money.
