Ever since its debut on June 22, Final Fantasy 16 has been a hot topic. The game has lived up to its expectations, and Square Enix has delivered on expectations, as fans and critics have found much to like about the game.
According to a new report, Final Fantasy 16 has sold more than 3 million units in just a few days.
Why it matters: Before the game’s release, a report claimed that Square Enix was concerned about preorders. The report stated that Final Fantasy 16 preorders were lower than its predecessor, but the game appears to have performed well.

It should be noted that the game is only available on the PS5, which makes the sales number even more impressive. Therefore, the latest Final Fantasy is undoubtedly a successful entry in the JRPG franchise.
Previously, Final Fantasy 7 Remake sold over 3.5 million copies in 3 days. This entry also launched as an exclusive but was released on the PS4. In 2020, the PS4 had more than twice as many players than the PS5.
However, not everything has been smooth for Final Fantasy 16, as the game has received its fair share of criticism from users regarding issues like low resolution during combat to achieve 60 FPS, unstable framerate during exploration, and a very cutscene-heavy narrative.
The title also faced review bombings, which lowered Final Fantasy 16’s user score on Metacritic. Despite all these obstacles, Final Fantasy is on track to become a successful JRPG for Square Enix.
Furthermore, the game is also planned for a PC release in the future. According to the Producer, Square Enix tried to release Final Fantasy 16 on PC at launch but did not have enough time to optimize the game.
The eventual PC release should bring even more players to the latest entry. Given the positive reception, Final Fantasy 16 is already considered a strong contender for Game of The Year in 2023.
