Fans Are Furious Over The $80 Price Increase By Xbox

Fans Aren't Willing To Spend $80 On A Game!

Story Highlight
  • Following Nintendo’s announcement of an $80 game, Xbox announced that it is also increasing the price of its upcoming first-party titles.
  • This move by the gaming giant has caused a lot of controversy online.
  • Fans are now saying they will wait for sales rather than buying games on launch.

Just recently, Nintendo announced that Switch 2 Games will cost $80, which angered a massive fandom. The $70 price was already too much, and this increase has caused a lot of controversy. Due to Nintendo increasing the prices, Xbox has followed suit and announced that its new first-party games will now cost $80

This has caused upset in the gaming industry, and fans are furious. They don’t want to pay $80 for a game, as that is just too much money.

Why it matters: If a game has infinite replayability, then spending this much makes sense. However, the replayability of a game depends on the preference of the person. That is why this new increase in game prices is so controversial.

 Price For Games Criticism
Fans are absolutely hating the fact that Xbox games will now cost $80.

On different social media platforms, the fandom has made it clear that they don’t like this new change. Microsoft has not only increased the prices of its games but has also increased the console’s prices worldwide

Damn, those are brutal. Game prices increasing so soon after they went up to $70 is not going to go over well. $70 already significantly cut down on how many new games I buy per year. I can’t imagine spending $80 on anything on release other than maybe GTA VI.

While many are against this price tag for games, some are defending Microsoft. They may not be defending the increase in prices, but they are saying that Microsoft isn’t to blame. That is because Nintendo was the first one to make this move, and it was only a matter of time before others followed suit, just like Xbox did.

The best way to deal with games with an $80 price tag is to wait for sales, as every game goes on sale eventually.

Some fans now think that Sony is likely to follow this trend, which seems likely. What do you think about the new first-party games from Xbox costing $80? Do you think this price is fair?
