- Fallout 76 has just achieved 20 million players.
- The game reached 3 million additional players within the last six months.
- This resurgence has come after the Amazon TV show’s success.
Fallout 76 didn’t really have a great launch, and even the developers acknowledged its shortcomings. The game had a rough launch, and its reception wasn’t something to brag about.
That said, last year, this live-service title still managed to cross 17 million players. Recently, the Fallout TV series has seen immense success and has caused a massive resurgence for the IP.
Fallout 76 was no exception, and thanks to the adaptation, it has reached a whopping 20 million players.
Why it matters: The Fallout TV show has done wonders for the franchise, and it even introduced a whole new fandom to the gaming series.
Bethesda Game Studios has announced the new milestone for Fallout 76. The studio’s creative director, Jonathan Rush, also thanked the fandom and the team in a dedicated video.
The whole franchise has been insanely popular since the TV show was released. For the live-service title, in particular, nearly 5 million players are currently active each day.
This is also a 600% increase over the previous figures, marking another remarkable success. Fallout 4 has seen a similar resurgence, as it even caused one of the biggest modding websites, Nexus Mods, to go down.
Thanks to the TV show, fans were able to enjoy the series once again, and many who previously criticized these games have changed their mind.
Todd Howard has also taken this opportunity to discuss Fallout 5. He states that these games take five or more years to make, so the developers are still in the planning phase. He does not have much else to share for now.
The Fallout TV show is excellent and has given this franchise another chance. Apart from Fallout 76, nearly every game has seen a 5-6x increase in daily active players, highlighting the importance of this adaptation.
