- Fight Night debuted in 2004, and the latest game was released in 2010.
- Following EA’s discontinuation, the publisher is reportedly reviving the franchise this year.
- A popular boxer has also hinted at a revival.
The first ever Fight Night game was released back in 2004. The game was very well received, but it didn’t sell well enough for EA to continue this series. Similarly, Fight Night Champions, the latest entry, was popular among the fans.
The game sold nearly 2 million copies, but EA has shown more interest in the UFC games since then. According to a new report, this is set to change soon, with sources claiming a new Fight Night game is in the works.
Why it matters: While various combat sports have been represented as gaming adaptations, boxing has not received similar attention. This sport is also more popular today, with various influencers taking an interest in boxing.
BREAKING🚨
Sources Tell Us That EA Is Planning To Announce A Fight Night Game THIS YEAR! Boxers Like Jaron Ennis and Raymond Ford Are Already On Board😳 pic.twitter.com/akMoH7QsaA
— Combat eSports Media (@CombatESportsM) April 9, 2024
The report comes from Combat eSpirts Media, which claims to share genuine information. While Combat eSports Media refused to comment further, Raymond Ford, one of the boxers who seems to be on board, has all but confirmed the game’s existence.
In his latest story, the boxer shared this very tweet. The source also states that others like Jaron Ennis are on board already. This was quite encouraging, but a well-known insider has further backed the report.
According to Nick Baker of Xbox Era, he had heard similar reports as early as 2021. The insider recently reported on the PlayStation State of Play and the Ghost of Tsushima PC port, confirming the legitimacy of his sources.
Fans have been thrilled after the report.
There is still demand for this sport in the gaming industry. While the likes of UFC and WWE can serve to scratch a similar itch, Fight Night was unique and catered to boxing fans specifically.
EA has yet to confirm or deny the rumors. Sources from Insider Gaming also claim to be looking into the matter, though they have yet to reach a conclusion.
Fans remain curious whether the game will reboot Fight Night or be a direct sequel. Whatever the case may be, there is certainly potential for thrilling boxing gameplay once the franchise returns.
