Denuvo Is Coming To Arc Raiders In New Update, Embark Assures Minimal Impact On Performance

Expert Verified By

Embark Won't Implement The DRM Aspect Of Denuvo In Arc Raiders.

Story Highlight
  • Embark is rolling out Denuvo anti-cheat in Arc Raiders from May 19th.
  • The game won’t implement the DRM aspect of the software, which is notorious for tanking performance.
  • The studio has assured fans that it is working to ensure a minimal impact on gameplay.

In 2026, Denuvo continues to be used by some of the biggest games in the industry thanks to its piracy countermeasures. However, the anti-tamper technology has been bypassed multiple times this year, with voices38 cracking AAA titles like Resident Evil Requiem with ease.

But, despite fans voicing concerns regarding the software’s impact, studios are persisting with Denuvo, and several AAA launches like Crimson Desert and Pragmata have implemented the anti-tamper. Now, Arc Raiders is also seeking the help of Denuvo to combat cheaters.

Why it matters: Even though Embark isn’t using Denuvo’s DRM, it’s still hard to believe the anti-cheat technology won’t worsen the gameplay experience.

As part of patch 1.29.0, Embark Studios is implementing Denuvo anti-cheat in Arc Raiders starting May 19th. The technology will be heading to the extraction shooter because of a positive response to its rollout in The Finals

However, Arc Raiders won’t be using the DRM aspect of the software, which protects the game’s digital rights and is notorious for tanking performance according to multiple analysts

Initially, only a limited number of Arc Raiders players will have Denuvo, and Embark later plans to expand it after monitoring the launch. The statement also assured fans that the developer will ensure Denuvo has minimal impact on performance, and the exclusion of DRM will help with this.

Arc Raiders
Cheaters have been a big issue in Arc Raiders ever since its inception.

Arc Raiders has been plagued with cheaters ever since its inception, and with the extraction shooter losing 80% of players since launch, dealing with this issue could be a way to bring fans back to the game.

However, Embark recently announced that the title won’t receive any major updates until October. Hence, if Denuvo does start impacting performance like usual, Arc Raiders will suffer more than it already is.
