Enhanced PSSR Gives The PS5 Pro A Second Wind!

Story Highlight
  • Cyberpunk 2077 is soon getting a PS5 Pro patch, thanks to the new Enhanced PSSR tech.
  • Previously, reports suggested hardware limitations were the reason why the game didn’t have PS5 Pro support.
  • No new content will be coming with this patch aside from performance improvements.

The new enhanced PSSR tech has breathed new life into the PS5 Pro, which is seemingly getting loads better in terms of support. With much better performance now, CDPR has also announced that it’s working on a PS5 Pro patch for Cyberpunk 2077.

This is a huge surprise since a PS5 Pro patch was previously deemed unlikely due to a lack of sufficient power

Why it matters: Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most visually appealing and demanding games in recent times, to the point that it has become a benchmark for testing hardware performance. As such, it will be exciting to see how well the PS5 Pro will fare with this RPG after a much-needed upgrade.

On social media, the official account of Cyberpunk 2077 confirmed this news, stating that the PS5 Pro patch will be coming in the near future. More details are expected within the coming weeks.

However, it is important to note that this update will bring graphical improvements, not any new content, as the account recently confirmed there are no new plans for an expansion or DLC.

The developers had previously reiterated several times that a PS5 Pro patch wasn’t in the works, but the new PSSR update has shifted things.

It seems that CDPR is utilizing the new Enhanced PSSR tech, which was built upon the FSR 4 upscaler. We’ve already seen what the new tech is capable of with Resident Evil Requiem. Titles with support for existing PSSR will also experience the benefit of this new tech starting next month.

As for performance, the PS5 Pro currently runs Cyberpunk 2077 at 60+ FPS in Performance mode and around 40 FPS in Ray Tracing mode. An educated guess means these numbers will be bumped up to 120FPS and 60FPS in both modes, respectively.
