Insider Dismisses Previous Claims Of The Region Being Set In Zerrikania!

Story Highlight
  • The rumored Witcher 3 DLC takes place near Velen, not Zerrikania.
  • It will bridge the story between The Witcher 3 and 4.
  • With a May launch, it will also kick off marketing for The Witcher 4.

The 11-year-old Witcher 3 is set to receive a new DLC after all these years, at least that’s what multiple reports have suggested. While we await official confirmation from CD Projekt Red on these expansions, rumors have been swirling, revealing more details about the project.

A known Polish insider has shared additional details about this DLC, stating that it will introduce a new region related to Velen. At the same time, he refuted earlier claims that the DLC would take fans to the Zerrikanian realm.

Why it matters: It’s been nearly a decade since fans saw the last of new Witcher story content. The next entry is still a couple of years away, so this DLC might be a good way to satiate fans’ hunger while they await what CD Projekt Red has next to offer.

UV o grach, a former Polish Journalist recently discussed the upcoming Witcher 3 DLC in his livestream. He stated that he hadn’t heard of the expansion taking place in Zerrikania. Instead, he says he’s heard of several regions, but he believes it would be somewhere around Velen and the northern Kingdom.

In the base game, Velen was shown to be a no-man’s land, the same area where the Bloody Baron quest takes place. It’ll be exciting to see what journey CD Projekt Red has to offer for fans in this region.

Other details on this expansion are that it will tie The Witcher 3’s story to the 4th entry, possibly sending off Geralt as the protagonist and Ciri taking the helm. As such, expect this expansion to be focused on these 2 characters.

With a release set for May 2026, CD Projekt Red will also kick off marketing for The Witcher 4, on which they reportedly plan to spend at least a few hundred million dollars, making it one of the most expensive video games of all time.
